<description><![CDATA[ <p style="text-align: justify;">Many parents are becoming aware of the importance emotional intelligence plays in having a happy and fulfilling life. Recent studies have shown that a person's emotional intelligence quotient is a better predictor of success in life than their IQ. Because emotional intelligence skills are learned rather than inherited, parents want to raise their children in a manner that encourages the development of emotional intelligence.<br /><br />If the memory is good, then all the feelings surrounding it give you a sense of well being, happiness, peace, comfort or fondness; but if the memory is not a positive one, then you feel those butterflies in your stomach, your heart pounds, feelings start bubbling up... and suddenly your day has been ruined irreversibly, or you pick a fight with a loved one or simply, you feel heavy and down.<br /><br />Goleman says that the best remedy for battling our emotional shortcomings is prevention. In other words, we need to place as much importance on teaching our children the essential skills of Emotional Intelligence as we do on more traditional measures like IQ and school exams. And while were at it, why not teach each other these vital life skills? It's never too late to improve your own emotional intelligence.<br /><br />Bringing children into our world should be thought about well before it occurs. Once it has occurred, at the very least, we should be questioning what kind of person we would like them to become so that we can encourage and develop in those arenas ourselves so that we are ultimately able to guide them into this.<br /><br />The human brain has been subjected to many researches, and the latest tells us we know any subject in two ways, emotionally and intellectually, and our psychological makeup is created as a result of both. It is almost akin to knowing something is right both with heart and head (you already know it, right?). For example, in emotionally charged situations, we can express our responses without any conscious effort on our part (in simpler words, without knowing).<br /><br />If you are being led into a dangerous situation because someone is ignorant then if you have a high EI then you should realise that you are probably doing something that will lead to catastrophe. Part of EI is based upon making your own judgement calls without relying on those of others (there are various emotional intelligence training activities which can help overcome this).<br /><br />One of the elements that make this subject so elusive is the idea of feelings. These are the physical components to the matrix such as pleasure and pain, what feels pleasant and what feels unpleasant. Many people don't understand that thoughts, and the emotions they produce, also produce a collateral physical reaction. This is a big reason why so much importance if placed on positive thinking. Positive thoughts lead to positive emotions lead to pleasant feelings.</p> ]]></description>

That is, results do not come overnight especially if one is over forty. Possibly they did come more quickly when of high school age, but those apparent miracles seem to be a phenomenon of the past.<br /><br />It is the same for body builders as it is for weight reducers. When we were younger, it was easier to make differences occur. Possibly a mere summer of hard work could make the fall entirely different. But as we age, the same types of transformations seem to take a much longer period of time.<br /><br />This makes the fad diet industry and the miracle supplement people ecstatic. They can sell their product with the slogan when diet and exercise are not enough our formula will make the difference. Granted, there are good diets out there as there are some fine weight loss and body building formulas. But the truth still remains that use of them seldom causes overnight differences in anyone.<br /><br />The good news in the midst of this sad state of affairs is that regular exercise along with proper diet and effective supplementation, possibly even with the latest miracle capsule will&nbsp; pay off in time. That is the secret to making an athletic lifestyle work. All that is really needed is staying at every aspect of it long enough, perhaps for at least six months. But it would be hardly as beneficial as having done a daily mile swim or six mile run for the last ten years. <br /><br />Everyone who wants to see&nbsp; dramatic and lasting results should find a personally agreeable way of exercising for at least an hour per day. That will create lasting positive results over time even in those who may have seen little or no development in the past, probably in less than three months of being at it. <description><![CDATA[ The old saying is, "Those who know, do. Those who don't, teach." But cerebral palsy patient Wilson Buswell is rapidly making sure special-ed teachers in Colorado know what it's like to have special needs. Buswell, 30, is the official co-instructor of special-ed courses at the University of Colorado along with associate professor Christi Kasa-Hendrickson.<br />
<br />
Teaching Style<br />
<br />
Buswell cannot talk because of his advanced Cerebral Palsy <a href="http://www.cerebralpalsylawdoctor.com/other-malpractice/other-conditions.html">symptoms and condition</a>. He is only able to move his head to answer "yes" and "no" questions. But he has also created PowerPoint presentations to help with more complicated questions. Buswell's younger sister, Bronwen, usually accompanies her brother to help assist in any emergencies, wipe away drool, help give drinks and interpret some of her brother's complex yet silent facial expressions.<br />
<br />
The presentations show that despite the blank stare, inability to swallow drool or form a sentence, the mind of Wilson Buswell is just as sharp and curious as any of the able-bodies teachers attending the course. In a few well-chosen sentences and pictures of him at Christmas and enjoying concerts, Buswell was able to convey what life is like for him. He also states that he is no different from other special needs students.<br />
<br />
"Presume Competency"<br />
<br />
Both Buswell and Kasa-Hendrickson are challenging the normal teaching boundaries between able-bodied children and those with special needs. Kids in wheelchairs or other difficulties are usually segregated from normal children with the understanding that, well, they aren't normal.<br />
<br />
But children with special needs are normal in terms of their ability to learn, argues Kasa-Hendrickson. She constantly drills into her students the motto "presume competency." All children, no matter what their physical condition, should be taught the same information in the same room. This also helps the children to fulfill their need to interact and make friends, which can also help stimulate learning in ways that can only be tested in real life.<br />

Part of the inspiration for the unusual University of Colorado course came from England.
